PIP appeals - guide for Polish speakers

Odwołanie PIP - PIP appeal support in Polish

Personal Independence Payment refused or reduced? We explain the appeal process in plain language, prepare the paperwork and support you in Polish or English - from mandatory reconsideration to tribunal.

Personal Independence Payment (PIP) is a UK benefit for people whose long-term health condition or disability affects daily living or mobility. Many genuine claims are refused at first - a large share of decisions are later changed when challenged. If your application was refused, or you were awarded less than you expected, you have the right to challenge the decision.

The process has strict deadlines and specific forms, and it runs in English. That combination stops many people from appealing at all. We guide you through every step and prepare the documents with you.

What we help with
  • Reviewing your PIP decision letter and explaining what it actually means.
  • Preparing a mandatory reconsideration request with the right evidence.
  • Gathering and organising supporting documents, including medical evidence.
  • Completing the tribunal appeal form (SSCS1) if reconsideration fails.
  • Preparing you for the tribunal hearing and what to expect on the day.
  • Liaising with the DWP and tribunal service on your behalf.
How it works

The PIP appeal process, step by step

01

Decision letter

The DWP sends its decision. You normally have one month to challenge it.

02

Mandatory reconsideration

You ask the DWP to look at the decision again, with your reasons and evidence.

03

Tribunal appeal

If the decision stands, you appeal to an independent tribunal within one month of the reconsideration notice.

04

Hearing & outcome

The tribunal hears your case - in person, by phone or on paper - and issues a new decision.

Common questions

How long do I have to appeal a PIP decision?

You normally have one month from the date on the decision letter to ask for mandatory reconsideration, and one month from the reconsideration notice to appeal to a tribunal. Late requests can sometimes be accepted - ask us as soon as possible.

What evidence helps a PIP appeal?

Letters from your GP or specialists, prescription lists, care or support plans, and a diary of how your condition affects daily tasks. We help you gather and organise these.

Do I have to attend the tribunal in person?

No - hearings can be held in person, by phone or video, or decided on paper. We help you choose and prepare for the format that suits you.

Will my payments stop while I appeal?

If you already receive PIP and are challenging a review, payments usually continue at the current rate until the decision changes. If this is a new claim, there is no payment until the appeal succeeds, but any award is then backdated.
